The Beacon Weekly Vigil for Democracy

The Beacon Thursday vigils bring neighbors together to publicly share support for Democracy and build community. The Beacon was founded by CBST’s Senior Rabbi Emerita Sharon Kleinbaum in the wake of the 2025 presidential inauguration. CBST is proud to be one of the faith partners of the Beacon’s Thursday evening vigils. If you are in New York City, here are a few Beacon groups and some names of CBSTers who regularly attend them:  

Bronx: Riverdale, 235th Street & Johnson Avenue, 5:30 pm every Thursday. (Maryann and Beth) 

Manhattan: East Village, East 9th Street & University Place (next to Chase Bank), 5:00pm every Thursday (Marsha) 

Manhattan: Upper West Side, Broadway & 96th Street, 6:00pm every Thursday (Ira and Kenneth) 

Queens: Forest Hills, Queens Boulevard & Yellowstone Boulevard, 4:00pm every Thursday (Ruth) 

Brooklyn: Park Slope, Grand Army Plaza, 5:30pm every Thursday (Gale)
