Rabbi Marisa James reflecting on America’s 250 years, “Some of the things I love about this country are aspirational and always have been. I love the ideal that we are generously welcoming to strangers and grateful for the way immigrants have built so much of this country, even though none of our leaders have actually lived up fully to that ideal…. I love that the country was born out of protests against tyranny. That every generation has been shaped by those protesting injustice. That our history has a mix of winning and losing battles that have led to greater freedoms even though there is so far still to go.”
