Parshat Tetzaveh - Repro Shabbat
Elise Keppler, Executive Director of the Global Justice Center, joined us as guest speaker for Repro Shabbat. She discussed the impact of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling, which overturned Roe v. Wade, leading to abortion bans in 12 states and restrictive laws in others. She emphasized the importance of international human rights law in advocating for reproductive autonomy, and called for community action, education, and support for organizations working on reproductive rights.
“What can all of you do? I think people are struggling to figure out, where can they to get out of the vet and get into the work. So a couple things that I would encourage everybody to do is understand and learn more about what does it mean to have abortion access as a fundamental right. You can visit our website, globaljusticecenter.net… So learn the arguments, learn the issues…Follow us when you see arguments that make sense to you, promote them. So learning is a big part of it, of course, another piece is supporting organizations you care about… And lastly, to think about how CBST can play a role in this movement.”
Repro Shabbat services took place on Friday, February 28, 2025 / 1 Adar 5785. Watch the full talk above.
