CBST Honors Three Years Since October 7
Over the last week, from the Hebrew anniversary of the attacks through the Gregorian calendar anniversary through this Shabbat, the CBST community has remembered those lost on and since October 7, 2023, in several ways.
In case you missed it, here is the video from Shabbat morning services for Shemini Atzeret on October 3/22 Tishrei, when we added a special section to our Yizkor prayers in memory of those murdered by Hamas, on October 7 and in the weeks, months, and years following. Rabbi Werber highlighted the stories of three people who died at the hands of Hamas that day.
On Wednesday, October 7, many CBST members joined memorials in New York City and online, especially one led by hostage families in Tel Aviv, which was broadcast internationally, and one in Washington Square Park, led by Israelis for Peace, both reading testimonies from survivors, and stories of those who were killed.
And on Friday evening, October 9, we will add a yahrzeit candle to our Shabbat candles, and will light it in community at the end of this week of remembrance.
May all of their memories bless us, and may that blessing help us work towards a future in which not one more bereaved family feels this pain.
