CBST’s amazing B*Mitzvah cohort brought their beautiful Torah to the community last week, in a joyful service that reflected their very different journeys to this celebration.

Rick Fishell speaks about his struggle with the cycles of tragedy and oppression, in this week’s Torah portion and in his own family’s story across generations, and teaches how a committed, loving community can be an antidote to loneliness and help us confront hate.

Ernie Gremillion on the Torah story of the “redeemer” who helps retain their family’s land, and how the different parts of his own soul can be conflicted in the face of fears and hard decisions, but ultimately choose the path of greater connection and pride.

Dwellyn Myrddin on the Torah teaching about the Shmitta year, the land itself being given a Shabbat, and how it contributes to justice and righteousness for everyone when human activity working the land is on pause, and those in need can reap the benefits.
