I have been a member of CBST for more than 20 years. Prior to this, my family and I were members of Congregation Sha’ar Zahav in San Francisco. I am moved and inspired by the creativity that flourishes at the intersection of queer and Jewish life – pastorally, liturgically, textually, musically, and communally. In the three decades since I joined an LGBTQIA+ shul, the Jewish world has changed enormously and it’s now possible to join any liberal shul, and even some Modern Orthodox ones, and be welcomed as a queer person. However, I am still passionately committed to, and invested in, the unique magic and synergy of LGBTQIA+ synagogues.
