Kim S. Geringer, Director
Kim S. Geringer is deeply committed to the CBST community and has been an active member for five years. Kim’s involvement spans various roles, including as a member of the CBST Community Chorus and as the ‘chat rabbi’ during the online High Holiday services of 2020 and 2021. She also conducted a workshop on clinical matters for CBST clergy, and has been collaborating on facilitating group discussions about the upcoming senior rabbi transition. As a faculty member at HUC-JIR for over a decade, Kim has supervised rabbinical and cantorial students, aligning my expertise in education and spirituality.
Before moving into academia, Kim served as a rabbi for 25 years, leading congregations in New Jersey and contributing significantly to the Reform Movement’s worship initiatives. Her background as a clinical social worker has enriched her understanding of human dynamics and change, skills she applies both in teaching and community service. Kim has served on various boards, including the Women’s Rabbinic Network and the New Jersey region of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, where she chaired the Ritual Committee at Temple Sinai in Summit, NJ.
At CBST, Kim is inspired by our dynamic worship and unwavering commitment to social justice and Jewish learning and is eager to contribute to its future, particularly during this pivotal moment of leadership transition and evolving community needs.
