Irwin Kroot, Director

Irwin Kroot has been an active member of CBST for ten years,and joined the Board in 2024. He sings with the CBST Community Chorus and has served as the Chorus Manager since August 2022. He  is currently the Chair of CBST’s Human Resources Advisory Team and volunteers with the Ark at CBST, and he previously served on the Senior Rabbi Search Committee from 2023 to 2024.

Beyond CBST, Irwin’s dedication to community service spans decades, including volunteer roles at the New York City LGBT Center, the Empire City Men’s Chorus, Stonewall 25, and NYC CyberQueers, and he founded the Coalition of Lesbian and Gay City Employees in the early 1990s. His professional expertise has focused on human resources and technology, including roles as the Director of Human Resources Systems for Columbia University, the Chief Information Officer for the New York City Department of Education, and the Assistant Vice President for Human Resources at The New School. He is now retired, with a part-time role as the Manager of Business and Communications for Pellettieri Stone Carvers’ Academy (www.stonecarversacademy.org).
