Yael Weiss, Director

Yael Weiss Headshot CBST Board MemberYael Weiss has been an active member of CBST for three years, quickly becoming a deeply engaged and valued part of the community. A regular at services, classes, and holiday events, she helped found and now co-leads “Shabbat Sits,” a bi-weekly meditation group that began during the High Holidays. She has shared her musical gifts with the congregation and regularly contributes behind the scenes, including writing Hebrew slides for Rabbi Werber’s Avodat Halev services. Her son, Aviv, is also an enthusiastic CBST member, now in his third year volunteering as a madrich with the Limmud program.

A professional musician and community organizer, Yael previously founded and directed a Jewish concert series at the JCC in Bridgeport, CT, and has performed and organized fundraising events for major Jewish organizations across the U.S. She brings experience in arts programming, community building, and nonprofit development, and is passionate about using CBST’s space and resources—including its Steinway piano and livestreaming capabilities—to grow music and cultural programming that supports both fundraising and community connection.

With a strong interest in fostering belonging, intergenerational connection, and open dialogue — especially around complex topics such as Israel — Yael brings compassion, creativity, and commitment to her vision for CBST’s continued growth and vibrancy.
