Shabbat Beha'alotecha

Rabbi Kleinbaum on Pride Month as a golden opportunity to stand up and fight for the rights of others.

“Let us, in this Pride Month, find a way to open ourselves up to those who are even more vulnerable than we might feel. You have to lift yourself up and find a light to light. If you light one light, it might be possible that that light will be lit in the soul of somebody else, who will light the light in the soul of somebody else, who will light another light.

“And you might not live to see it, but that light ends up—for the generation that will follow—changing the world from what we see right now.

“This Pride Month, I pray that we can lift ourselves up and light some lights.”

Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum delivered this drashah at Kabbalat Shabbat services on Friday, June 9, 2023 / 21 Sivan 5783.
