Pastoral Care: Connecting with CBST Clergy

“My therapist has really helped me navigate this difficult time, but I’m still trying to make meaning out of it. Can we talk?”

“Rabbi, do I have to fast this year?”

“It’s been an intense month and I’m relieved its over. Is there a ritual or blessing for me to mark this moment?”

“Cantor, can you teach me that beautiful song I heard at services?”

“This place is starting feel like home, but I’m not sure where to begin to learn more.”

“I am/we are thinking about becoming a parent(s). How can our queer Jewish community provide support at this time?”

“The more my child learns about Judaism, the more I’m realizing I still have a lot of my own stuff to process. Do you have any time to chat in the next few weeks?”

“Can I get rabbinic support as I take on more care for an aging parent?”

CBST members always have access to clergy within our caring community!

CBST’s clergy team is here to accompany you in joy and in hardship. Our rabbis, cantor, and rabbinical interns are available and ready to listen to you, support you, and pique your curiosity about Jewish tradition and practice.

In case of a pastoral emergency such as a death, call 917-513-0413. Leave a message and a member of the clergy team will get back to you as soon as possible.

If you or someone you know is acutely ill and wishes that the congregation to pray for their healing, please contact info@cbst.org to add the name to our Refuah Shleimah list. Any person can submit their name for one-month inclusion and will print in the Shabbat program the names of those who have agreed to be included.

Support is available for aging congregants and caregivers for non-emergency assistance. Contact Judy Ribnick, LCSW, MSW, Director of CBST’s Aging Together, at JRibnick@cbst.org or 212-929-9498 x829.
