Engaging twice-monthly IN-PERSON ‎sessions include t’fillah (prayer) study, Hebrew instruction, exploration of Jewish texts and core values, brought to life through art, drama, music, Jewish culture, and LGBTQ+ values. The program reflects our community, offering our children and young adults the opportunity to understand the diversity of the Jewish world ‎and find their home in it. The program is overseen by Rabbi Yael Werber and taught by exceptional faculty and professional songleaders.

  • Programming offered for children and young adults, from early childhood through 12th Grade.
  • Limmud b’Shabbat meets two Shabbat mornings each month (October – June) from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.
  • Weekly personalized Hebrew sessions are included as part of the program.
  • In addition, families share learning experiences on social action service days, holiday celebrations, and may attend our annual retreat weekend (at Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center—a camp-like setting in the Connecticut Berkshires).

Teen Track 2024-2025 (Grades 8-12): Understanding Israel and Palestine:  Beyond History, Culture, People & Land

Understanding Israel and Palestine:  Beyond History, Culture, People & Land

Twice monthly, Saturdays 1:30PM – 3PM, taught by Rabbi Marisa James and Miya Rotstein

This coming fall, we will be focusing our Teen Track on Israel and Palestine. In these difficult times, it is imperative that our teens have the language and context to talk about the complexities of Israel and Palestine with knowledge and nuance. In this class, we hope to teach from a multitude of angles, facets, stories and histories. Together we will ask the difficult questions:  What is our connection to the Land, State and people of Israel and Palestine? Where do we feel pulled and where do we feel pushed in these connections as Jews, as Americans and as young adults?  What space do we hold as people who care about the dignity and safety of Israelis, Palestinians, and all who have a stake in a peaceful future?

We expect this twice-monthly class to be vibrant, thought provoking and interactive. Teens will be encouraged to use their capacity for critical thinking to form ideas and grapple with hard subject. We hope that they continue to build their own personal connections to Israel and all it encompasses with strong foundation in both the history and present tense of Israel and Palestine. We want to give our teens a language with which to speak about Israel and Palestine especially in times when they are inundated with so much information from social media, news outlets, and peers. Please join us for what will be an incredible learning opportunity!

Teen Track 2024-25 will meet twice a month from 1:30-3pm at CBST 130 West 30th Street, on the same days as our Limmud programmingTuition is $2,400; it includes all of the above. This tuition also includes the early bird discount of $150 valid through July 31, 2024. After that, the tuition pricing will be $2,550.
