Rabbi Jason Klein's Drashah for Shabbat Vayera, 2025

Last week Rabbi Werber spoke about the danger of becoming fire worshippers, of rhetoric and communication that the only way to communicate is the loudest and most inflammatory. Some of the responses to Zohran Mamdani’s election as our mayor by legacy Jewish organizations who historically been associated with defending Jews…do not seem to have received Rabbi Werber’s memo….

I am not saying that people cannot have legitimate concerns about what is next for New York City, but to use the language of self-importance of Jewish New Yorkers or to engage special “tracking and monitoring” of Mayor Mamdani, sounds a lot more to me like perpetuating anti-Jewish tropes about Jewish conspiracies and power than it does about thoughtful coalition building in which all of us hold one another accountable.”

Rabbi Jason Klein gave this drashah on Friday, November 7 / 17 Cheshvan. Watch his full talk above.
