Cooperberg-Rittmaster Rabbinical Intern David Elitzer's Drashah for Shabbat Shuva, 2025

The world’s Jewish space-time is neither linear nor neat. While we might perceive ourselves as standing in one place at one time, we constantly recognize with Kaddish a plurality of worlds, Le’alam ulalmey almaya, the world and the worlds of the worlds. During these days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, we are extra aware of God’s trans-dimensional greatness as we recite a special Kaddish variation: le’ela le’ela min kol birchata veshirata – may God’s name, the one that transcends these many worlds, be blessed above and beyond. Le’ela le’ela, the blessings and songs that we say in this world… Whatever we can describe of the world around us, what we can see and understand is on a different plane than the Great Divine.

Cooperberg-Rittmaster Rabbinical Intern David Elitzer gave this drashah on Friday, September 26 / 5 Tishrei. Watch his full talk above.
