Shabbat Shemini, 2025

“If the whole earth is filled with God’s glory, if God’s glory is ever present, then the challenge rests on us to be open to experiencing it. This Shabbat, and each day in the week to come, may we heed the words of Lecha Dodi, arise and know that God’s glory has been revealed to you. And this prayer for Shabbat, which appears in the reform prayer book, is the prayer I’d like to leave you with: Days pass and the years vanish and we walk sightless among miracles. God fill our eyes with seeing and our minds with knowing. Let there be moments when your presence, like lightning illumines the darkness in which we walk. Help us to see wherever we gaze that the bush burns unconsumed, and we clay touched by God will reach out for holiness and exclaim and wonder how filled with awe is this place, and we did not know it.”

Rabbi Nancy Wiener gave this drashah on Friday, April 25, 2025 / 28 Nisan 5785. Watch her full talk above.
