Oneg Discussion with Combatants for Peace

We were honored and moved to host our friends from Combatants for Peace for an oneg discussion after Shabbat services last Friday.

Combatants for Peace is a joint Israeli-Palestinian organization of people who have turned away from violence to build a joint movement based on nonviolent principles. Palestinian Co-Founder Souli Khatib and Israeli leading activist Iris Gur spoke about their personal journeys and their work in this intense historical moment.

In discussion with Senior Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum and long-time friend of CBST and chair of American Friends of Combatants for Peace Gili Getz, Iris and Souli spoke about the power of recognizing the traumas being experienced by Israelis and Palestinians—as well as what it means to have hope for peace in a time of terrible trauma.

We strongly encourage listening to the whole conversation, and we’re very grateful to have heard this clear message, that the liberation of both peoples will come only through working binationally to create a shared future.
