Martin Luther King, Jr. Shabbat

At last Friday’s MLK Shabbat, we were honored to have guest speaker U.S. Rep. Mondaire Jones with us, who also happens to be one of the first openly gay, Black members of Congress.

“As a Black American, I feel a particular kinship with my Jewish neighbors,” Rep. Jones said in his remarks. “As Dr. King once said to the American Jewish Congress, ‘Our unity is born of our common struggle for centuries, not only to rid ourselves of bondage, but to make oppression of any people by others an impossibility.'”

Rep. Mondaire Jones was our guest speaker on January 14, 2022 / 13 Sh’vat 5782.
