Ivan Zimmerman, Executive Officer

Ivan Zimmerman joined CBST in 1998 with his then fiancee, Taryn Higashi.  Since then, he has served for 13 years on the Board, including 9 on the Executive Committee, 3 as Vice President. Ivan has a BA in East Asian Studies from Princeton and a JD from Columbia Law School. He has worked as an attorney in Beijing and Tokyo, and for most of the 1990’s was General Counsel of Planned Parenthood of New York City.  Since 1999 he has served as General Counsel of New York Public Radio. He has also served on the Board of National Advocates for Pregnant Women (now Pregnancy Justice). Ivan and Taryn’s son, Taro, was bar mitzvahed in 2017 at CBST, which inspired Ivan to study for and have his bar mitzvah here three years later.
