Family and Friends Shabbat

Friday, June 28, 6:30pm | In-Person at CBST, 130 West 30 St and Online via Livestream | Family and Friends Shabbat was created as a time during Pride Month for CBST’s LGBTQ+ members to invite their family and friends to a service. This service is about recognizing the transformative support that is possible for us to find from our loved ones.  We build community even amidst climates of systemic, spiritual, familial, and other kinds of oppression, opening ourselves and our tent to the love and community that our allies can bring to our lives.

PRIDE Shabbat

Friday, June 28, 6:30pm | In-Person at Masonic Hall, 46 West 24 St* and Online via Livestream | Pride Shabbat is a cornerstone of CBST’s calendar. The spiritual and justice work that we do all year culminates into the joy of Pride, which we explore at Shabbat and carry forth together as we march in Pride each year deeply connected to our and Pride’s roots, celebrating the moment, and dreaming the future together.

*Guests who cannot safely navigate 7 steps should enter at 71 West 23 St. This entrance is fully accessible via two sets of elevators.

Thank you for being a part of PRIDE 2023 at CBST!

CBST’s 50th Anniversary Pride Shabbat

We’re still basking in the joy, spiritual fullness, and pride we felt at our 50th Anniversary Pride Shabbat services on Friday, June 23. What an amazing gift to be in community together and graced with the presence and wise words of New York Attorney General Letitia James, and our special guest, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who was in conversation with Senior Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum during services. On Sunday, June 25, 2023, CBST was honored to be at the front of New York City’s 53rd Annual Heritage of Pride March, celebrating our flagship 50th year, alongside iconic legacy LGBTQ+ organizations also celebrating their 50th year: Lambda, The National LGBTQ Task Force, and PFLAG. “Over the Rainbow”

CBST’s 50th Anniversary Pride Shabbat service was a spectacular celebration. Hear the iconic piece “Over the Rainbow,” popularized by the legendary Judy Garland in “The Wizard of Oz,” sung by the magnificent CBST Community Chorus » “Over the Rainbow,” has become a beloved anthem for the LGBTQ+ community. In this rich choral arrangement, we hear the call for an era of peace and full acceptance “where troubles melt like lemon drops.”
