Shabbat Hagadol - Parshat Tzav, 2025

“Maybe it is called Shabbat Hagadol, because the longest sermon of the year has been associated with this day, because the laws of Pesach are the most extensive that we have. So buckle up and close the doors,” Rabbi Jason Klein’s Shabbat Hagadol drashah began. Check our link in bio to watch the whole talk, in which Rabbi Klein played with some of the Passover numbers games to outline ten principles guiding their perspective on Israel, Jewish and Palestinian self-determination, and the importance of holding everyone’s stories and experiences with love.

“So love can mean connecting with lots of people that we have something in common with, people with whom we agree, and love also means connecting with people with whom we disagree,” he continued. “We show our love when we listen actively and listen resiliently. We show our love when we trust one another to show up to the table as adults and build trust with one another by showing we can have even hard conversations. Love means showing up with empathy for someone else’s pain, and there is a lot of pain. If these are conversations that are not happening enough already or not happening with enough love. Let’s change that. Let’s add to the conversations. Let’s add to the love and make more of that happen together.”

Rabbi Jason Klein gave this drashah on Friday, April 11, 2025 / 14 Nisan 5785.
