Shabbat Bo 2025

“There is currently a battle being waged for our souls, and we must not let this time crush us. We must hold on to our nation, that thing that animates us, that thing that reminds us why we are alive. The executive orders and the coordinated hate speech of those in power is designed to overwhelm us. They are designed to freeze us in our places, to make it so that we cannot move. They want us to feel the total and complete blackout, but we cannot let them have that. We can be overwhelmed; we can be angry, but we cannot allow them to take ownership over our souls.”

Rabbi Yael Werber delivered this talk at Kabbalat Shabbat services on Friday, January 31, 2025 / 3 Shvat 5785.
