Shabbat Bo

In a world of fear and grief, Rabbi Marisa James asks: “What keeps your soul together?”

Her drashah drew similarities between the Exodus story and our own. “We have been living now, for years, through a series of plagues that have caused so much fear and grief.”

Instead of hardening our hearts, she urged us to keep them “soft, open, unburdened… holding firm, strengthening others, [and] honoring dignity.

“Sometimes we need a little opposition to be the catalyst… to gather the strength to do something.”

Rabbi Marisa James delivered this drashah at Kabbalat Shabbat services on Friday, January 19, 2023 / 10 Sh’vat 5784.
