After 20 Inspiring Celebrations, B*Mitzvah Cohort Concludes
On April 25, we gathered to close out the adult B*Mitzvah program after more than two years of learning Hebrew, liturgy, and Torah, six months of ritual, and 20 B*mitzvahs! What an inspiring group of learners!
A new adult B*mitzvah cohort begins in Fall 2024. If you’re interested, or want to learn more, please contact Miya Rotstein.
Here are some quotes from the B*mitzvah students when asked what this experience meant to them:
“I feel stronger as a person.”
“I can still learn something new and be a beginner.”
“I learned I can enter into something not needing to be perfect.”
“I gained confidence in myself.”
“I gained another prong of connection to this community.”
“I learned what the meaning of community is—I finally feel like I belong.”
“This made me feel like I can do things that sre hard and seem impossible, I never would have thought I could learn Hebrew.”
“I never thought I could actually gain meaning from the text and the liturgy and this experience helped me find meaning in
the Torah.”
“In the rest of my life I usually don’t feel ‘Jewish enough’ and this process helped me realize that I am the perfect amount of Jewish.“
“Chanting Torah and seeing the words in the Torah scroll was a mystical and emotional experience.”
“I am proud of myself for persevering, and showing myself I can do it, and that even as I get older I can still learn more about myself.”
Mazal tov, learners! May you go from strength to strength.
