Senior Rabbi Emerita Sharon Kleinbaum's Drashah for Parshat Va'etchanan - Shabbat Nachamu, 2025

Our job, my dearest friends, has shifted. It is now to become nurturers of the seeds. It is now to see ourselves as being the carrier of the light and the love that will make sure that redemption has roots that will be strong and will be able to emerge. We have to nourish those seeds. We have to find the ways inside of each of us that we can be beacons of light, not just, not just wailing and screaming about how terrible it is. Wail and scream. You know, the Bratslav Hasidim said you should go out every single day for 45 minutes into nature, and scream and yell to God about how terrible things are, but then the other 23-some hours, you’ve got to focus on what you can do in the world to create light and joy and love.

Senior Rabbi Emerita Sharon Kleinbaum gave this drashah on Friday, August 8 / 15 Av. Watch her full talk above.
