Gina Schmeling, Director of Development

Gina Schmeling joined the CBST staff in October 2020, bringing over two decades of fundraising experience from Jewish, advocacy, and social justice non-profit organizations.

In the past, Gina has worked with other Boards of Directors, and currently serves on the Boards of Hannah Senesh Community Day School, the New Shul, and Eden Village Camp—where she has first-hand experience of the essential conversations that identify and shape priorities from both internal and external supportive perspectives. As co-organizer of New York’s Non-profit Tech community for four years, she served as speaker on a number of subjects pertaining to technology and fundraising.

Gina graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Drama, and performed in its first production of Larry Kramer’s “The Normal Heart” — which increased her understanding on the impact of the AIDS crisis, and harnessed her thoughts and feelings to support the LGBTQ community in its continuing fight. She holds a Master of Arts in Humanities from New York University, and was a critical studies fellow at The Whitney Museum.

Distance running is Gina’s passion, and she is a fan of walking meetings and making time for wellness. A native of Chicago, she now lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two children. She looks forward to hearing your story, getting to know you, and helping you find the correct way for you to support CBST’s LGBTQ-Jewish community, and the work of tikkun olam — bringing about a fair and just world.
