Shabbat Shoftim

Senior Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum reminds us to remain steadfast in pursuit of truth, which helps us build a more just world: “We have to remember that no matter what is going on in the world around us, that we have this powerful injunction: that honesty, being truthful, is at the center of a meaningful life.

She acknowledges that truth can feel elusive at a time of deep social division. “We have to keep building for the world we want no matter what goes on around us. No matter what those in different political positions act and how they are. We must continue to build the world as we want it, in our own lives with each other.”

Senior Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum delivered this drashah at Kabbalat Shabbat services on Friday, August 4, 2023 / 18 Av 5783.

Be in community with CBST at Kabbalat Shabbat services, Fridays at 6:30 p.m. ET, either in person or streaming live on CBST’s website (cbst.org/livestream).
