At L’Taken, teens from across North America converged on Washington, DC, for four days of advocacy and action.
Students spent the weekend learning about major social justice issues and the Jewish values that inform our advocacy, culminating on Monday when everyone headed to Capitol Hill to lobby their representatives in Congress on an issue of their choice.
In partnership with the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC), CBST teens had the opportunity to apply Jewish perspectives and mobilize around issues like reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, climate change, Israel, health care, and more. They spent time meeting new people, exploring Washington, DC, and traveling to Capitol Hill to make their voices heard!
For CBST teens, this was an especially exciting opportunity...before CBST's Senior Rabbi Kleinbaum came to CBST, she piloted this program (which was later called L'Taken) at the RAC. She designed it to grow young Jewish adults’ social and political consciousness, to help them understand how our government works, and to take thoughtful and empowered roles in their government and their society. Rabbi Kleinbaum, CRRI Ben Dyme, Executive Director Yolanda Potasinski, and Principal Jennifer Kleinbaum attended.
