Risa Tanania has been a visitor of CBST since 1993, alongside her uncle, Marc Janover - an active member for many years. She formally became a member in 2012, and was elected to the Board in 2018. She has an MFA from the University of Iowa, in Feminist Intermediary Studies in 2002 and combined her love of pop culture and politics by co-founding of The House that Casting Built, a boutique casting house for large scale, unscripted television, specializing in inclusion and diversity on screen. When she is not trying to change the world through that guilty pleasure, she is most likely at home, in Chelsea, with her wife, Anna, and their two dogs, Artie and Barbra Streisand.
