Risa Tanania, Director

Risa Tanania has been a visitor to CBST since 1993, alongside her uncle, Marc Janover, who was an active member for many years. She formally became a member in 2012, and was elected to the Board in 2018.

Risa received an MFA from the University of Iowa in Feminist Intermediary Studies in 2002. Since then, she has combined her love of pop culture and politics by co-founding The House that Casting Built, a boutique casting house for large-scale unscripted television, specializing in inclusion and diversity onscreen.

When she is not trying to change the world through that guilty pleasure, Risa is likely to be at home in Chelsea with her wife, Anna, and their two dogs, Artie and Barbra Streisand.
