Trans Taharah: Death and Burial Rites for Gender-Expansive Jews - Register Now
3 Sessions: Sundays, Jan 16, 23, 30, 6:00 – 7:15 p.m.
Taught by Rabbinical Student Ariel Tovlev
Taharah (the Jewish practice of preparing a body for burial) has traditionally been a gender-segregated ritual, with the assumption that everyone is cisgender and heterosexual. How might people who were not cisgender or heterosexual fit into this traditional burial rite? Come learn about the ways Jewish burial rites are adapting to serve queer, trans, and gender nonconforming people. $36 Registration Fee ($18 for Members). We appreciate any additional contribution to support Lehrhaus Adult Education at CBST.
