Rabbi Lauren Grabelle Herrmann, 2003-04 Cooperberg-Rittmaster Rabbinical Intern

Rabbi Lauren is the rabbi of SAJ-Judaism that Stands for All, also known historically as Society for The Advancement of Judaism, the first Reconstructionist synagogue. Rabbi Lauren’s rabbinate has been driven by a desire to create inclusive Jewish communities of meaning, where a sense of belonging and community commitment are palpable, and by a passion for the integration of Judaism and justice.

Before coming to SAJ, Rabbi Lauren was the founder of Kol Tzedek, an inclusive, dynamic social justice centered synagogue in West Philadelphia. She graduated in 2006 from The Reconstructionist Rabbinical College.

She is a proud alumni of the Cooperberg Rittmaster Rabbinical Internship, the Jewish Organizing Initiative and Network. She is active in JFREJ, T'ruah, and The New Sanctuary Committee.

Rabbi Lauren lives in NYC with her husband Jon and her children Niko and Nadiv.

The core of CBST's religious life is our weekly Kabbalat Shabbat service. Service leadership is shared among congregants, Senior Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum, Assistant Rabbi Yael Rapport, and our Cooperberg-Rittmaster Rabbinical interns, and Cantorial intern. Music Director and pianist, Joyce Rosenzweig directs the CBST Community Chorus on a regular basis. CBST's own prayer book, "With All Your Heart" incorporates Hebrew prayers, English readings, and both traditional and modern songs. A drash is delivered each week by one of the Rabbis, an intern, a member of the congregation, or on occasion by a special guest. When we are back in our Home at West 30th Street, we will once again enjoy gathering for the Oneg (delight) that follows each service providing an opportunity to meet new people and connect with long-standing friends over delicious desserts. Services are livestreamed HERE. All are always welcome to CBST services, always without charge.
