"Gender Revolution" Film Screening
This summer, CBST is proud to co-sponsor B'nai Jeshurun Synagogue's Occupy the Roof: Summer Social Justice Film Series, celebrating stories of people that shine a light on justice in a changing world.
On Tuesday, August 20, CBST members enjoy a special discount for tickets to the screening of Gender Revolution with a post-show discussion featuring CBST's own Scholar-in-Residence for Trans and Queer Jewish Studies, Rabbi Mike Moskowitz, as well as B'nai Jeshurun Rabbinic Fellow Abi Weber.
Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric is a special two-hour documentary on the shifting landscape of gender. Although one’s gender identity is an intensely personal subject, the individuals in this feature agreed to share their stories. Watch a short trailer here.
Doors at 6:00PM, welcoming remarks at 6:45PM, and the movie begins at 7:00PM. Discussion with Rabbi Mike Moskowitz and Rabbinic Fellow Abi Weber follows the movie. Feel free to bring a picnic dinner (dairy or vegetarian only) to enjoy before the screening begins. Light refreshments will be served.
- CBST Members also receive a discount to the August 6 screening of Artifishal, a film about people, rivers, and the fight for the future of wild fish and the environment that supports them. It explores wild salmon’s slide toward extinction, threats posed by fish hatcheries and fish farms, and our continued loss of faith in nature. Purchase tickets here.
- CBST Members are also welcome to attend the free, September 11 screening of 13th, the 2016 American documentary by director Ava DuVernay, exploring the intersection of race, justice, and mass incarceration in the United States. Register here.
Revenue from ticket sales go directly to B'nai Jeshurun to cover film licensing and facilities expenses, but please also consider a contribution to Social Justice at CBST, to keep programs and partnerships like this happening!
