CBST Volunteers at ICNYU Iftar - June 1
Ramadan began on Sunday evening, May 5, and ends on Tuesday, June 4. This year, CBST will have organized volunteer groups help prepare and serve Iftar, the evening meal that ends the daily fast, at the Islamic Center of NYU (ICNYU) every week during Ramadan.
We gather in front of 238 Thompson Street (the building where ICNYU is located, just south of Washington Square Park) slightly before 6pm and work from 6 to 8pm. (There’s some flexibility as to time. If you can’t get there exactly at 6pm you’re still welcome to volunteer.) Tasks include chopping vegetables, preparing salad, and helping to serve the meal. We're invited to take part in the end-of-day service that precedes the Iftar meal. Once the meal is served, we're welcome to eat with members of the community. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get to know our Muslim friends.
To sign up for a volunteer night, or if you have any questions, please email Harold Levine. If you've done this on your own in prior years and would like to do so again feel free to sign up for any day that works for you through the ICNYU website.
