The Suitcase Project - Supporting Formerly Incarcerated New Yorkers

Founder of Witness to Mass Incarceration Evie Litwok created the Suitcase Project, which provides suitcases filled with basic necessities to help people newly released from prison get on their feet again. Evie is a daughter of Holocaust survivors, and a formerly incarcerated Jewish lesbian, and CBST is honored to welcome her back as we commit to creating a suitcase and connecting with a returning citizen to support their transition from incarceration to freedom. Evie will be our guest speaker at our MLK Jr. Shabbat service, and then afterwards will stay for an Oneg program where we'll commit to this important work to help people who have been incarcerated regain their dignity and move on with their lives.
