Join CRRI Deborah Megdal for a special visit to the National Yiddish Theater, at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, to experience the theatrical concert production, SOUL TO SOUL (An Annual MLK Jr. Day Tradition).
In commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, NYTF presents SOUL TO SOUL, an electrifying theatrical concert that explores the intersections between African-American and Yiddish musical traditions. The concert is conceived and directed by NYTF Artistic Director Zalmen Mlotek and stars Lisa Fishman, Cantor Magda Fishman, Elmore James and Tony Perry. There will be a special introduction by Professor Susannah Heschel, Eli Black Professor of Jewish Studies, Dartmouth College. In Yiddish and English with English supertitles.
At 1:45 PM we will meet inside the entrance at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Pl #201, New York, NY 10280. The show will begin at 2:00 PM. Afterwards, we will stop by the LOX Cafe for a nosh. The restaurant is located at the museum, overlooking the scenic Battery Park City. View the menu and more info here.
