Pesach falls on 15-22 Nissan in the Hebrew calendar - from sundown on Friday, April 19 through nightfall on April 27, 2019. On Shabbat, April 19, CBST welcomes all to a Ma'ariv Servce. First Night Passover Seder follows - advance registration is required. REGISTER HERE
It is a Jewish tradition to clear your home of all chametz (foods that are not kosher for Passover). You may choose to "sell" your chametz to CBST with a contribution in support of holiday observances. Information on how to participate will be posted in February. CBST's Home of Our Own at 130 West 30th Street will be fully kosher for Passover - only foods that are sealed and specifically stamped kosher for Passover will be permitted during this festival observance.
The core of CBST's religious life is our weekly Kabbalat Shabbat service. Service leadership is shared among congregants, Senior Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum, Assistant Rabbi Yael Rapport, Cantor Steve Zeidenberg, and our Cooperberg-Rittmaster Rabbinical interns. Music Director and pianist, Joyce Rosenzweig directs the CBST Community Chorus on a regular basis. CBST's own prayer book, "With All Your Heart" incorporates Hebrew prayers, English readings, and both traditional and modern songs. A drash is delivered each week by one of the Rabbis, an intern, a member of the congregation, or on occasion by a special guest. The Oneg that follows each service provides an opportunity to meet new people and connect with long-standing friends. Services are livestreamed on https://www.facebook.com/BeitSimchatTorah.All are always welcome to CBST services, always without charge.
