Sanctuary Initiative Training Dec 11, 2017

Registration is closed for this event

On Kol Nidre, Rabbi Kleinbaum spoke about the history of Jewish persecution and demonization and immigration, and how today's efforts to demonize Muslims, Mexicans, and others are connected to our history. She called on each of us to "Be the reason people believe in the goodness of people."

So we are proud to announce CBST's new Sanctuary Initiative: Supporting Immigrants, Refugees, and Asylum Seekers at CBST. Click here to read more about what this means

You can become part of this Initiative:

  • Register now to join us for a training session at CBST on Monday December 11th from 7:00-9:00pm with the New Sanctuary Movement. Learn how to support immigrants in NYC by accompanying them to appointments with immigration authorities. You will also learn about the services this vital organization provides, its new partnership with CBST and how you can get more involved.
  • Click here to let us know who you are and how you'd like to get involved!

The Sanctuary team is led by Sabrina Farber and Sherry Fyman, with CBST members Noemi Masliah, Lyosha Gorshkov, Harold Levine, Marsha Melnick, Rick Landman, Lee Goldberg, and CBST Director of Social Justice Programming, Rabbi Marisa James and CRRI Ayalon Eliach.

"Never again means never again for anyone. That is a basic truth." We continue to deepen our commitment to immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, knowing that their history is entwined with our own.

With love and blessings,
