We celebrate Pride with a joyous service that includes music from the Community Chorus and invited guests from the LGBT community worldwide. This year, CBST is proud to welcome Cynthia Nixon!
Cynthia Nixon was most recently seen in Curtis Hanson's HBO film Too Big to Fail opposite James Woods, Paul Giamatti and William Hurt. She will guest star soon on the penultimate episode of Law and Order: Criminal Intent and recently wrapped Oren Moverman's Rampart with Woody Harrelson.
Nixon guest starred last year in Showtime's critically acclaimed hit The Big C opposite Laura Linney, and is reprising her role again this season. Last year she also starred in Sex and the City 2 as Miranda Hobbes, a role she has played since 1997 and for which she has won an Emmy, two SAG awards and 4 Golden an Globe nominations. She was also an Emmy and Golden Globe nominee for her role as Eleanor Roosevelt in HBO's Warm Springs. In 2006 Cynthia won the Best Actress Tony Award for David Lindsay-Abaire's play Rabbit Hole. Additionally, she won a Spoken Word Grammy Award in 2009 for her recording of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth as well as an Emmy Award for Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her performance on Law and Order: SVU. As an 18 year old she made theatrical history by appearing simultaneously in two Broadway plays at once--Hurlyburly and the Real Thing.
Cynthia is a native New Yorker. She and her girlfriend Christine Marinoni are engaged to be married and are fighting hard to bring marriage equality to New York State. Cynthia is also an outspoken advocate for public school funding and reproductive rights. Cynthia and Christine have three children: Samantha, Charlie and Max aged 14, 8 and 4 months.
